I love excellent food….and excellent food begins with excellent ingredients, including the spices. I feel so fortunate to have found Spicewalla spices (even before Oprah put them on her favorite things list). Spicewalla spices are created from generations of knowledge of how best to produce, procure and blend the spices….and you can feel and taste their unique essence and love in each tin. How did I find them? I attended a “meet the artist” event and found myself overcome with  the amazing, complex, rich, exotic smell of spices coming from the adjacent building space….which happened to be Spicewalla’s home. I walked inside their  retail area and soaked my senses in what I then learned were the spices used by the best of chefs and available to me and you at Amazon!

For those new to cooking, remember to sear your meat to brown it before slow cooking or pressure cooking….and you can do that right in the pot if you choose although I prefer to use a cast iron skillet for searing/browning.  I have had my Lodge  10.25”  Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet for years and it works with induction cooktops as well as conventional cooktops!

About Slow cookers:

After a LONG search for a non toxic slow cooker with no lead,  I found the Instant Pot with its food grade stainless steel components. Wow! Did I get more than a replacement slow cooker with the purchase of the Instant Pot! Makes the best rice EVER, and I love the pressure cooker option. It is important to read the instructions and there are plenty of videos and recipes so most anyone can create perfect meals!
