What does the Powerhead do? Well, not much until you add this!

The powerhead is just the start of a very versatile system of specialty tools and attachments.

An friend remembered seeing an old Johnny Carson skit, “Dickey The Stick” and started to poke a little fun at the EGO Powerhead; but I had the last laugh when I added batteries and the brush cutter attachment. What a fantastic combination! The brush cutter tackles that tough growth that string cutters don’t even scratch.

My wish list is growing. I do want the string cutter, the extension pole, the pole saw and probably one more battery.

There are two versions of the Powerhead (1400 and 1420). The difference in price is small and you may want to consider the 1420 upgrade like I did. Be sure to shop the combo packages at Amazon. You can sometimes save if you get the Powerhead, batteries and attachments as a promotional bundle.

DO NOT BUY THIS, UNLESS…

Chainsaws are not toys, right? Only if you are willing to put in the time and effort to learn how to use these powerful tools safely and correctly… only then should you consider the EGO 16 Inch battery-powered chainsaw. But if you are ready to make that commitment, I think this is the one to get. I bought one and have zero regrets

I did all my homework. I watched you-tube videos. How to adjust the chain tension. How to properly fill the lubricating oil reservoir for the chain. How to top cut, undercut and notch cut. After several “clean-up” projects with some very large fallen trees, I am even more confident that I made the right decision to purchase this product.

There are safety features, but you have to learn how to use them. Electric is instant start when you pull the trigger and instant stop when you release it. There is no “pulling on a string” to start it up and no engine heat from combustion exhaust. (Don’t forget though – the chain is always sharp even when the saw is not operating.)

A lightweight battery lasts me about 30-45 minutes and recharges in about the same amount of time. I would rather have two of the smaller EGO Lithium batteries instead of a single heavier one with high capacity. They only take a few seconds to remove and replace.

The tool is easier to handle with the lighter battery, and let’s face it – A short break every so often to swap a battery and drink a little water is not a bad thing when you are working outside in the summer sun.

This saw was my first purchase of an electric yard tool. I knew that the first purchase of a battery powered replacement for the old “oil and gas” powered tools was important. Each manufacturer has their own proprietary batteries and charging systems.

My time spent in brand research paid off. The EGO saw performed exactly as I expected. I then felt confident enough in the EGO product line to buy two more of their compatible products that use the same battery/charger system as the chain saw. UPDATE:

This is still working after four years. I just changed the battery, and I can’t remember the last time I did that. This Radon monitor just works for months at a time!

We ordered a couple of “sample and mail” radon kits for Radon surveillance from a highly recommended company with an excellent reputation. . This battery powered Radon detector was placed in the same general area at the same time as samples were collected for lab processing.

When the commercial lab results came back, we were pleased to see that the results from this electronic Radon detector were comparable, and provided a continuous 24×7 monitoring solution.

It is small, and is placed on a wall at eye level in an area that is not exposed to drafts. The batteries last for months and the light weight allows it to be placed almost anywhere with only a small picture frame tack.

Perfect for hard surface floors, every chair at our house has one on each chair leg. These snack tables needed floor protectors too. Try the square-leg version for the snack tables. This 32-piece package has enough for 8 chairs.

The felt tips are firmly bonded to the plastic cups, and you will want to match the size and shape of these little “boots” to the items. Check out the shape and size information on the linked page above.

You can install these in just a couple of minutes. Just gently stretch open and slide over the end of the chair leg.

This is a huge improvement over those “stick-on” adhesive felt protectors from the hardware store.

My first EGO purchase was their 16-inch chainsaw. This variable speed blower was my 3rd EGO battery-powered tool, and I want to share my satisfaction with the EGO platform of light and easy to use home improvement tools!

Those competing yard, garden and construction tool manufacturers have their own proprietary battery systems and attachments. Therefore, your first purchase of any of these interchangeable battery systems should always get a close evaluation. I tried two other BATTERY-POWERED systems before I settled on EGO, and I don’t regret it.

The removable and rechargeable battery packs for the EGO line are available in different capacities. The smaller batteries do not last as long as the heavier ones, but the lightest batteries are perfect for the chain saw, the Blower and any other tools that you hand-carry.

I get about 30 minutes of use from a battery that recharges on the EGO fast charger in about the same time. Two batteries and a brief break every thirty minutes to swap out with the charger, and you can work more or less continuously with these powerful helpers.

If you shop on Amazon, you will find that batteries, chargers and tools are sold individually and in bundles. Do the math and mix and match for the best price. I found that I personally saved money when a battery was included. One tool bundled with a standard charger turned out to be similar in price to the tool alone.

It pays to plan for the combination of tools, batteries and chargers that you may need in the short term. Shop for the best configuration. Remember, the chain saw battery is interchangeable with the blower, and the weed trimmer, etc. Is EGO pushing out special bundles and SKU’s with each season? I can’t say, but it pays to browse the EGO store on Amazon to seek out the current bargain.
